125th Anniversary
On the Friday the 13th and Saturday March the 14th Rosebud Primary celebrated its 125th. birthday.
We welcomed all ex students, staff and parents to our great school.
On Friday the children dressed up in olden clothes, paraded under the big shed then involved themselves in a variety of activities from the past. All the children and guests enjoyed the huge birthday cake created by a local business called "Rolls and Scrolls" THanks to Mr. and Mrs. Palmer
Saturday's activities included:
The monthly Market from 8am to 12.pm
At 3.00pm the school opened its doors to ex staff, students and parents. Student leaders conducted tours of their school. .
At 4.00pm guests enjoyed an afternoon tea.
At 4.30 some guest speakers reminisced about school life. Guest speakers included Mr. Denis Burnham, Bev Savige and Ivan Chenall. Many an interesting yarn was told. Did you know that at one stage R.P.S. had 900 students? A political campaign was organised in the 70's which lead to the opening of Eastbourne Primary School.
Following the speeches two visual presentations were shown as well as musical performances. Thanks to Liz Macdonald and Tom Gamble for producing the films. They were enjoyed by all age visitors.
The school hall was transformed into a pictorial history of our school.
Can I thank the organising committee of Malcolm Boag, Liz Macdonald, Rachael Powell, Scott Mornone, Rosemary Draper and Greg Anderson for all their work, advice and support?
The school celebrated in style.
